Have they not heard British Prime Minister David Cameron, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and recently, com to think of it, German Chancellor Angela Merkel? They all argue most vociferously that the EU is meddling too much in member countries affairs. They demand to renationalize powers. They will not have outside forces interfering in their countries and how they are run, so there.

US officials on Friday slammed plans to construct an EU-centric communication system, designed to prevent emails and phone calls from being swept up by the NSA, warning that such a move is a violation of trade laws. Calling Europe’s proposal to build its own integrated communication system “draconian,” the office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) said American tech companies, which are worth an estimated $8 trillion per year, would take a financial hit if Brussels gives the initiative the green light.

La recommandation de l’Union européenne - qui n’est qu’une recommandation - n’est pas suffisante et doit être replacée dans le cadre de la négociation de la zone de libre-échange transatlantique (TAFTA) qui a lieu en ce moment, entre Washington et Bruxelles : toute la position de l’UE est à lire à travers ça. Si l’accord est signé, cela signifiera que les multinationales ne dépendent plus du droit des pays dans lesquels ils vont opérer. Si TAFTA est signé, cela voudra dire que toutes les compagnies qui disposent d’un permis pourront procéder à l’exploitation du gaz de schiste, peu importe qu’il y ait une loi en France qui interdise la fracturation hydraulique.
